Palmyra is a diverse community of small farms, former farms and suburban rural homes located along scenic Route 2. Much of eastern Somerset County and western Penobscot County can be viewed from its hilltops. On a clear day, the views include the White Mountains to the west and Maine’s Mt. Katahdin to the north.
Palmyra’s close proximity to both Route 2 and Interstate 95 make the town attractive to both businesses and residents who can easily commute to Bangor, Waterville and Augusta. New business growth along Route 2 has greatly increased in recent years.
Palmyra is home to the Sebasticook Valley Chamber information building, located at the edge of the Walmart Super Center parking lot along Route 2.
