Newport is located on Interstate 95 midway between Bangor & Waterville.  Often referred to as the ‘Crossroads of Maine,’ Newport is a pleasant community in the heart of the Sebasticook Valley region and town residents enjoy access to shopping, employment opportunities and the regional airport.  Situated at the intersection of several major roads and highways, the town provides easy access to Maine’s ski resorts and northern lakes region.
One of Newport’s most notable features is Sebasticook Lake, the largest lake within the confines of one town east of the Mississippi River.  With a swimming area and public boat launch conveniently located downtown, the lake is accessible to both residents & visitors.  Other opportunities for outdoor recreation include tennis courts, a playground and well maintained ATV and snowmobile trails.
The Newport Cultural Center is located prominently on Maine Street, offering library resources and services, including a well stocked children’s readying area.  The center also houses a public meeting room and a local history resource room.  Visit for more information.
