Exeter is an agricultural community bordering Sebasticook Valley in the upper reaches of the Kenduskeag Valley. Exeter proudly boasts having more cows than people! This picturesque farmland still retains its expansive heritage of potato growing, but is building a new reputation as prime dairy land. The townβs showcase farm is Stonyvale Farm (Fogler Farm), which claims a dairy milk production of 7,900 gallons a day from its herd of 1,800! Stonyvale Farm is also on the forefront of renewable energy and heat production through its use of anaerobic digesters which turn manure and other organic waste into energy.
Because of its focus on stewardship and innovative farming practices, Exeter will be known as βThe Agricultural Center of Penobscot Countyβ for generations to come.
